Introducing...Me (again)!

My name is Noura and I'm thrilled to be moving on to the second project of the year! I had a blast doing the commercial so I am hopeful that this project will be equally as fun (or even better). I am a huge music person and I always have been. So, filming a music video was what I was most excited for coming into this class. I am also a big fan of Olivia Rodrigo, who has a very versatile discography. So, hopefully my group will be able to agree on one of her songs. Filming the commercial was the first time I had done anything regarding filmmaking. However, I learned several things from it that I can use to improve the results of this upcoming project. I also gained new editing skills after editing the commercial. I am excited to utilize such skills moving forward. 

Additionally, I am looking forward to creating a story within the music video. I am a huge fan of theatre and all things acting. It has been one of my biggest passions since elementary school. So, acting out the story we create for the video should not be difficult. I have been an artsy person since I was very little. Due to my creative nature, I frequently create stories that go along with music I listen to. Especially when that music does not already have a music video to go with it. Plus, I have watched my fair share of music videos and find them fascinating. Many of them are creative and have interesting storylines. So, it should be fun to be able to incorporate all of this into a music video of my own.

Short Film Research: Omnibus/ Comedy

     Hey everyone, welcome back to another one of our research blogs. Today we will be digging in and looking into the Short Film Omnibus, a comedy. This film was made by Sam Karmann and won the Oscar in the 1992-1993 awards season. It portrays a Frenchman trying to get off of a train at a stop which it wasn't scheduled for. In this film, the sound starts off as some cheesy movie intro, giving us this pattern that that's how a short film comedy should start. On the train in this film, all you could hear was the sound of the engine along with the dialogue between the Frenchman and the worker on the train. The idea of minimum sound is now starting to become a pattern we have noticed through the short films we have analyzed so far. When analyzing the Mis-en-scene in this film, the costumes are usually oversized for the main character who has to well be humorous. Production is not for the Weak!

Hello, reader! As always, welcome back to my blog! I am glad you were able to stop by again. There are a few thing that have changed since you were last here. For example, my group and I were only able to film a small portion of our short film yesterday. Today, we were planning on finishing the production, but we are all very busy with a studying for a test in another class. So, none of us really prioritized the short film getting made. However, I do want to finish it soon because I love the editing process that comes after production finishing.  Also, speaking of the editing process, it is very tedious. Since I am usually in charge of the editing of a media project, I am worried for a few reasons. One thing that I am worried about is that I will run out of time and not finish editing the final short film. Since the short film has to not look choppy, I am worried if we do not finish production fast enough and I have to edit a rushed piece of media, it will end up looking messy. So,...

Our Script

  Scene 1:   Film opens to shot of a window on a house. It is nighttime and a group of girls are having a pillow fight in the room seen through the window.     Scene 2:   Camera moves through the window and takes the audience into the bedroom with the girls. They stop fighting and decide they need water and snacks, so they call to the girl in the kitchen and tell her to hurry up.     Scene 3:    Cuts to the girl in the kitchen getting glasses of water when the microwave beeps. Shot of her opening the microwave door and grabbing the popcorn. Then we follow her as she balances everything and yells back saying “Coming!” to her friends.     Scene 4:   The girls all sit in a circle on the bed with the popcorn bowl in the middle.
