Our Movie !

This is our movie, I am very proud of it. Enjoy!

Edits, Edits, Edits!

After we filmed at Macy's house, I got straight to editing! First, I put all of the clips together. We used Macy's phone to film. We did this because Macy has the newest phone, so we figured it would produce the best quality. But, this meant that I had to send all the clips I took on her phone, to my phone so I could edit. Once, all the clips sent to my phone completely, the next task was putting them in order. I used iMovie to arrange all the clips in their correct order. Then, I exported the compacted film into my camera roll.      Next, I used Splice to edit the volume and times of the clips. Then, I cut some clips to be shorter so the film look cleaner. After I did this, the film was still three minutes long! So, to get it down to two minutes, I had to take other measures! I started deleted scenes. First, I deleted the scene where they are playing ghost game for the second time. It just was not that necessary to keep in. Especially since I h...

Production Days are Complete!

Image
My group and I finished our production! We filmed this week week and finished all our scenes. Our production schedule has been going to plan so far for the most part. Except for a few unexpected changes that had to be made recently. In one of my previous blogs, I talked about getting a film camera from my school to use for filming. The plan was to get a camera, so that we could film some of our scenes without difficulty. But this plan soon changed. These scenes involve different angles such as Dutch and tracking shots. We thought that with a professional camera (instead of a phone) these angles would be a lot easier to achieve. But, while we were waiting for the opportunity to get a camera we chose to film other scenes. We filmed these scenes on an iPhone. After a day of filming with the phone, we realized that it is possible for us to film in any angle without a camera!     So, we ended up filming every scene! Our friend Taylee was the main character...

Let the Filming Commence!

Image
We officially starting filming as a group! On Thursday my group and I went to Macy's house afterschool. We had a limited amount of time so we had to film just a few scenes. But, we still made a huge chunk in our progress. Our film has a bunch of teenage girls at a sleepover in it. So, we decided to invite some of our friends over to create that environment. We invited over our friends Taylee and Sabrina! We told them to dress in pajamas so that it looked like we were at a sleepover.     When everyone got to Macy's house, we began planning out which scenes we could film. We decided to finish filming the kitchen scene. But, we quickly realized that there was a slight problem in our production time. It was daytime and our film is set at night. So, we had to cover up all the light that was coming through the windows in the kitchen. We did this by making Taylee hold up a blanket to the windows so it looked like there was no light coming through! Then, we filmed...

Things are Going to Plan!

Image
Last week we encountered several complications that affected our filming days. Sometimes the weather was poor and we could not film any outdoor scenes. Other times we were all just too busy. And sometimes, one of were out of town and could not be in the film at all if we were to film. So, our production days have been delayed recently. However, things are starting to look up for my group and I. For example, we only have school for three and a half days this week. Friday is a holiday, and Thursday is an early release day for students. On Friday, Sam has a family event to attend and, therefore, can't make it to Macy's house to film. However, on Thursday, we are all free. On said Thursday, we should be able to get several takes of different scenes that are in our film.      Also (drum roll, please), we have extras!! Our film is set at a teenage girl sleepover. My group and I wanted this setting to follow the conventions of a typical girls sleepover in th...

Target Run and...Not Quite Done

Image
Yesterday was an eventful day in terms of filming. My group and I decided a little while ago that we needed to get props and costumes for our short film. We planned on going to Target and getting these items there. So, yesterday that is just what we did! Sam and I had a lacrosse game that ended at around 6:00 pm. Macy came to the game to support us, so we all left together once the game ended. On the way home, we thought about getting more of our filming done in the coming days. Then, Sam remembered that we need to get the materials still. So, we took a detour to the nearest Target we could find. When we got to Target, we bought pajama sets, a boombox prop, and some popcorn. All the typical sleepover supplies!     Then, we left Target with our finds and headed back to Macy's house. We went into Macy's house and discussed our plans for production for the upcoming week. We figured it will be easier to get things done now, since we have all the props we need to film...

Look! We Made Progress!

Image
Yesterday, my group and I tried to film again. Unfortunately, it didn't go very well. We still have scheduled days that we have dedicated to filming. However, sometimes, if we are all free, we try to film some more. Yesterday was one of those days. My lacrosse practice was cancelled due to the rainy weather. So, we thought it would be a good idea to try to film at Macy's house after school was out. Don't worry! We took the rain into account and considered how it would affect our ability to film. Nearly all of the scenes in our film are shot indoors. So, as a group, we decided that the rain would not affect filming that much. With all this in mind, we headed to Macy's house after school. We were able to film some of the hallway scenes by the end of the time we had at Macy's house. We faced a few challenges while filming the scenes in this location. The biggest challenge we had to solve was figuring out how to angle our phones to get the correct angle for the shot. N...
