Creative Critical Reflection

 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

The product uses the conventions of a stereotypical sports drink commercial. The subjects in it are wearing athletic attire, there is energetic intense music incorporated and the main goal is to motivate the viewers. It represents the social group of athletes and jocks, who use Celsius to stay active in their sport.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My product engages with audiences by having ads on social media and on billboards that draw in the social groups interested in it. As a real media text, my commercial would be distributed on social media, or on television as a 30-second commercial in between the clips of a show.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

My production skills started out rough because I did not know how to express all the scene ideas I had in my head to my actors, and I was unfamiliar with the filming software. However, throughout the project, I learned to better articulate my plans and thoughts, which made the production process a lot easier. By the end of the project, my production skills developed into confidence in my ability to direct.

4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

I integrated technologies in this project during the editing process. I used the applications iMovie and Splice to edit the entire commercial. To put the clips in the correct order and decide what diegetic audio would be included, I used iMovie. Whereas, to add non-diegetic music and other audio, I used Splice.
