New Equipment and New Alterations!

On the next day of production, me and my group had a plan for finishing a good portion of the music video. This included getting new equipment. In our previous project, we had some trouble making sure our shots were not shaky. This was difficult because we were only using our phones and our hands. So, it took several tries to get a take that was clear and did not have any shaking. To avoid this issue in our music video, we got a phone stand to hold my phone as we filmed! The stand helped because it could keep the phone perfectly straight when we wanted to include a tracking shot. Also, it would rotate the phone 90 or 180 degrees as we so pleased, so we did not have to worry about wobbling. This made it super easy to carry out Dutch and canted angles. It also particularly made it easier for us to film our car scene.

In the storyboard, the car scene was that main character looking into a car window and seeing the masked figure in the window reflection. However, we had already made alterations to that part of the plot. So, we had to decide what the alternative was going to be.  Such an alternative still had to have the masked figure incorporated into the scene. After plenty of pondering, we decided that it would be best to have the main character get into the car first and foremost. Then, after a cut, the main character would adjust her mirror and the masked figure would appear in that reflection. There was major discourse on whether the figure should be seen in the rear-view mirror or the outer mirror. Eventually, we decided on the latter. The hand-held phone stand made this scene go by very smoothly, because the phone was able to move to the perfect angle. This allowed for us to get both the masked figure's reflection and the main character into the shot.
