Production Day Means Changes are Underway!
Monday was the first day of filming at Macy's house! We spent some time discussing the equipment we were going to use to film the scenes. Soon after, we headed to Macy's room to shoot the first couple scenes. Once we had shot those beginning scenes, we ran into a few issues. The first one being that we didn't know how to ensure that the music aligned with our footage as we shot it. We resolved this issue by playing the song as we filmed and trying to get it as closely timed as possible. So, whenever we shot another take, one of us would have the song playing through a different device. This also made it so that we didn't go over we knew we weren't going over the time limit as we were filming. We also decided that the scenes could be edited to perfectly match the song anyways. So, these tactics ultimately solved that problem.
As filming continued, we ran into another problem. The more scenes we tried to film, the more we had to shy away from what we had originally put in our storyboard. Firstly, in the storyboard there is a scene where the main character goes to the bathroom after waking up. The masked figure was supposed to be in the shower and then spotted by the main character who then runs out of the bathroom in fear. However, when we tried to film the scene, we hit a significant roadblock. We realized that it was impossible to get the shot without seeing me (who was filming) in the bathroom mirror. So, we had to change the storyboard, and make the masked figure show up in the mirror behind the main character instead. Another storyboard change was made when had to film the "big reveal" scene where the masked figure is unmasked. In the storyboard, this takes place on a beach. However, we were filming on a relatively rainy day when tides were high, and we also had no way to get to the beach. So, instead of filming the scene at the beach, we filmed it in Macy's backyard by the pool.
