Art of the Title  


The website "Art of the Title" has several elements that help give information about how title sequences are put together, and what makes a great one. The website provides articles that discuss recent title sequences that are some of the bests in the industry. On the home page, the site shows a "Top 10" list of the best sequences of 2022. This feature is useful because it makes it easy to research relevant movies. This is important because opening sequences and title sequences have evolved a lot in recent years. So, we would want to investigate the more recent ones for our final task. The Art of the Title website also features various artists and comic creators. There are several articles on certain artists that work particularly on title sequences in movies. With this feature, it is easy to study how title sequences are made by certain artists and see how their styles differ. So, hopefully we can use our new knowledge of their styles and finished title sequences, to create a satisfactory title sequence.

This website is home to hundreds of main title sequences of blockbuster movies and tv shows. It includes articles and interviews on different artists and motion designers. These artists have all made award-winning title sequences. So, they all have high qualifications and plenty of experience in film and title designing. This feature is extremely beneficial because it makes researching different styles and designs in title sequences much simpler. Plus, the interviews allow specific, personal questions to be answered by the professional artists, which just reading an article can’t achieve. The website also features films with critically acclaimed title sequences. Each featured movie brings a new element of title sequences and designs to study. Although all the films’ sequences are unique, they all include embedded text and brilliant art that captivate the audience as they watch. By studying these feature films, we can easily gain inspiration for a title sequence of our own.

Short Film Research: Omnibus/ Comedy

     Hey everyone, welcome back to another one of our research blogs. Today we will be digging in and looking into the Short Film Omnibus, a comedy. This film was made by Sam Karmann and won the Oscar in the 1992-1993 awards season. It portrays a Frenchman trying to get off of a train at a stop which it wasn't scheduled for. In this film, the sound starts off as some cheesy movie intro, giving us this pattern that that's how a short film comedy should start. On the train in this film, all you could hear was the sound of the engine along with the dialogue between the Frenchman and the worker on the train. The idea of minimum sound is now starting to become a pattern we have noticed through the short films we have analyzed so far. When analyzing the Mis-en-scene in this film, the costumes are usually oversized for the main character who has to well be humorous. Production is not for the Weak!

Hello, reader! As always, welcome back to my blog! I am glad you were able to stop by again. There are a few thing that have changed since you were last here. For example, my group and I were only able to film a small portion of our short film yesterday. Today, we were planning on finishing the production, but we are all very busy with a studying for a test in another class. So, none of us really prioritized the short film getting made. However, I do want to finish it soon because I love the editing process that comes after production finishing.  Also, speaking of the editing process, it is very tedious. Since I am usually in charge of the editing of a media project, I am worried for a few reasons. One thing that I am worried about is that I will run out of time and not finish editing the final short film. Since the short film has to not look choppy, I am worried if we do not finish production fast enough and I have to edit a rushed piece of media, it will end up looking messy. So,...

Our Script

  Scene 1:   Film opens to shot of a window on a house. It is nighttime and a group of girls are having a pillow fight in the room seen through the window.     Scene 2:   Camera moves through the window and takes the audience into the bedroom with the girls. They stop fighting and decide they need water and snacks, so they call to the girl in the kitchen and tell her to hurry up.     Scene 3:    Cuts to the girl in the kitchen getting glasses of water when the microwave beeps. Shot of her opening the microwave door and grabbing the popcorn. Then we follow her as she balances everything and yells back saying “Coming!” to her friends.     Scene 4:   The girls all sit in a circle on the bed with the popcorn bowl in the middle.
