Target Run and...Not Quite Done

Image
Yesterday was an eventful day in terms of filming. My group and I decided a little while ago that we needed to get props and costumes for our short film. We planned on going to Target and getting these items there. So, yesterday that is just what we did! Sam and I had a lacrosse game that ended at around 6:00 pm. Macy came to the game to support us, so we all left together once the game ended. On the way home, we thought about getting more of our filming done in the coming days. Then, Sam remembered that we need to get the materials still. So, we took a detour to the nearest Target we could find. When we got to Target, we bought pajama sets, a boombox prop, and some popcorn. All the typical sleepover supplies!     Then, we left Target with our finds and headed back to Macy's house. We went into Macy's house and discussed our plans for production for the upcoming week. We figured it will be easier to get things done now, since we have all the props we need to film...

Look! We Made Progress!

Image
Yesterday, my group and I tried to film again. Unfortunately, it didn't go very well. We still have scheduled days that we have dedicated to filming. However, sometimes, if we are all free, we try to film some more. Yesterday was one of those days. My lacrosse practice was cancelled due to the rainy weather. So, we thought it would be a good idea to try to film at Macy's house after school was out. Don't worry! We took the rain into account and considered how it would affect our ability to film. Nearly all of the scenes in our film are shot indoors. So, as a group, we decided that the rain would not affect filming that much. With all this in mind, we headed to Macy's house after school. We were able to film some of the hallway scenes by the end of the time we had at Macy's house. We faced a few challenges while filming the scenes in this location. The biggest challenge we had to solve was figuring out how to angle our phones to get the correct angle for the shot. N...

Filming Days are Within Reach!

Image
Finding days to film have not been easy! With Macy away over Spring Break, we could only film a few scenes. Those scenes were also not scenes that involved wide/ establishing shots. We did this to avoid confusion amid all the location changes. But, we finally have found time to film! This week, my group and I are planning to film at Macy's house. This filming would be done over the weekend. We are thinking about just having an actual sleepover (like in our film)! This would make it easier to film certain scenes, instead of setting aside days to shoot particular scenes. For example, we were going to set aside a day to shoot just the establishing shot of the house at night. However, if we have a sleepover, we can just shoot most of our other scenes and then wait until it is dark out to shoot the establishing scene. Also, if we finished majority of the filming this week it would give Macy more time to edit the scenes we shoot. Since, she would have two weeks to edit. ...

Making Preparations

Image
My group and I have been working towards filming days. During this week, we plan on having time to film at Macy's house. Macy has been out of town for this past week. Because of this, we could not use her house to film. So, instead Sam and I filmed a few scenes at my house. The scenes we filmed were all scenes that did not require any wide/ establishing shots. This is because we still plan to use Macy's house once she is available. If we switched between two different houses in our final project, it would be confusing to the viewers. So, we only filmed scenes of objects that could be in anyone's house. For example, we were able to film the popcorn scene. This is because this scene is just a bag of popcorn in a microwave. So, we didn't need a particular house to film it.     During this week, my group and I are planning to get other work done before more filming. This work includes getting clothing items and objects for costumes. Also, getting materials for possib...

Busy as Bees!

Image
Last Saturday, my group and I planned to begin filming. However, Macy was out of town, so we had to postpone the start of filming to this weekend. I am hoping to be able to work on production during Spring Break as well (which starts in two weeks). So, I have been working on clearing my schedule to better fit production days, like the one last Saturday. Both my groupmates have also been making these adjustments. However, things have been seeming to keep getting in our way recently! For example, this weekend might not work for filming after all. Sam's family is gone for the weekend so it will be difficult for her to find transportation to Macy's house where we will be filming most of our scenes. Also, Macy is going to a festival on Sunday, and will not be back at her house until it is too dark to film some of our final task. Whereas I would not be able to film this Saturday anyways, because I have to dog-sit at around the time we would be filming....

Production Starts...or Not?

Image
Over this last weekend, my group and I planned to start some of our production. However, there were a couple of roadblocks that made it hard to do so.  First, my groupmate, Macy, was out of town for the entire weekend. We had planned to film at Macy's house and in her yard. So, this was a problem because with Macy gone, we had nowhere to film. Also, Macy deals with most of the editing during production. It would be difficult to film without her because she would not be able to tell us what time stamps (in a take) she plans on editing. This would make acting while respecting what she wants to edit, virtually impossible. Plus, in the scenes, we need a group of girls to be shown. Sam (my other groupmate) and I did not want Macy to not be in the group at some parts of the film, and then magically appear once she got back from her trip and we resumed filming. So, instead, we just postponed the start of production as a whole. Another problem that stopped the beginning of production...

Our Storyboard

Sheet 1:    The film starts with shots showing the house where it takes place, and the main characters having a sleepover. They are doing basic things like pillow fights an d making popcorn.     Sheet 2:   They finish getting the popcorn and return to being a group of girls in their bedroom.     Sheet 3:   An eerie mood is starting to be created with foreshadowing and focus on the door, but eventually cutting back to the girls dancing and having fun.     Sheet 4:   They settle down and try and decide on something to do. One of the girls suggests Charlie Charlie .     Sheet 5:    They set up and play the game. The lights flicker and tension in the film is high, but then we see a shot of one of the gi rl’s younger brother playing with the lights.      Sheet 6:   The girls yell at the little boy and tell him to stop bothering them. They then go back to a birds eye view shot of them play...
