*Intro Song plays*

Hey, my dedicated fans and welcome back to your daily dose of Modern Media Madness! On today’s Films Fresh Off the Press” segment, I have a very special guest here to discuss her upcoming thriller film “Charlie”. The film’s trailer that recently came out previews the movie as a story about teenage girls at a sleepover that turns bad after they jokingly awaken an evil spirit “Charlie”. The film is inspired by the popular childhood game we all used to play, “Charlie, Charlie”.

So, without further adieu, please give a warm welcome to our special guest and director of Charlie, Noura Attah!

*Applause*

Thank you so much Samantha for that warm, warm welcome.

Anytime, Noura. So, your film has been quite the buzz on social media since the trailer was released, have you noticed how much attention it’s gotten?

Yes, actually, I have, it’s absolutely insane that so many people are so excited about something that I created and love and am proud of. I mean, this movie is practically my baby so.

Completely understand that. You should be super proud the movie is amazing.

Thank you so much.

So we’ll begin the questions then that were sent in from my Instagram Questions page by fans. First question by carlyrae331, how does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Well my short film opening scene uses the conventions of its genre of Thriller. The conventions that I follow are teenage girls at a sleepover wearing pajamas and dancing to music and eating snacks like popcorn. I would say that this represents the social group of teen girls and the social issue that young teenage girls are seen as vulnerable and naïve. Which is why they always die first in typical Thriller films. My film does not challenge or go against such conventions because I used watched several Thriller films to inspire my film using its conventions.

Wow that is so cool. I love that response. So next question by HS_lover, how does your final product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

That’s actually a really great question so, I think the final product engages with audiences by being super suspenseful and keeping viewers on the edge of their seat the entire time they are watching it. I mean there is really never a dull moment. The whole opening scene builds tension as the scoring changes from teen-boppy music to, creepily, no music at all like in the door scenes, and then to ominous, eerie music once the protagonist is killed. These elements of my product connect  and engage my audience to the film because it makes them interested and want to keep watching. And to answer that following question, my film opening teaser can be distributed as a real media text in the form of a movie trailer that is shown on TV like when you’re watching a show and a commercial comes on. It would probably have to be modified to fit that screen type though. It will also be distributed as a preview in the movie theater before the movie you’re there for comes on. And of course on the official “Charlie” Instagram account it will be shown on Instagram Reels.

Interesting, I actually always wondered how much thought goes into distributing films and getting them to the public so people will want to go see the full film.

Yeah it is, a lot of thought *laugh* but it’s worth it, to have people watch my movie and enjoy it, I mean I enjoy it a lot so.

I love that. Okay this next question was sent in by Beachboy101, he asks How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Oh wow, um, I would say that my production skills really developed throughout this project actually. In comparison to past projects I’ve done, I have become quite good at the production process in the sense that I am much better at filming now. When I first started out this project, I would forget to check the quality of the takes and leave them in the final shot looking blurry or pixelated and not knowing why it would turn out like that. As filming continued though, I became an expert at cleaning the camera lens often. I also developed by production skills by improving my camerawork by angling the camera for differently takes, in different positions to create certain effects. Earlier on in the production process I would not have been able to do that, but by the end I was a wiz at it and all the different angles look so good in the final product. Oh, and also to further answer that question, teamwork and cooperation with the actors on set is a huge part of the success of the production process. As the project progressed, I became more comfortable with the actors and was able to improve my communication with them which is a great production skill to have. So, I could tell them where to go and what to do and things I thought would be cool for them to add to their lines; which just overall helped production go smoothly.

Yeah, right I mean it’s clear to see that you learned a lot about production throughout this project. Okay we have reached our final question of the segment, but before we get to it, a quick message about our wonderful sponsor, Daisy Palace Microphones. If you want to start a podcast but don’t know where do start, look no further and purchase a Daisy Palace Microphone. I am using one right now and they are so sleek and amazing quality and perfect for beginner podcasters because they are so easy to navigate. Buy a Daisy, podcast like crazy! Okay, now we’re gonna get right back into our questionare. MacyMart_777 sent in this final question. She asks How did you integrate technologies like software, hardware, and online—in this project?

I almost don’t want to answer this question because I’m having such a good time and I don’t want this to be over *laugh*, but I will of course. Mmm, another great question. I integrated technologies into this project using hardware like my partner Macy’s iPhone 13 to film the scenes of the opening scene. I used the camera app to record all of the scenes and crop some of the shots to fit the screen. Most of the technology that was integrated into this project was software such as editing apps that I used to edit the clips of the opening scene and get one compact final product. I used the editing app called “iMovie” and the editing software called “Splice”. These editing apps helped me a lot with editing the clips I took during production. iMovie was really useful to add scoring and export the film, while Splice helped crop and cut the individual clips and make sure the final product was under two minutes. I had to cut some scenes out to stay under the two minute mark and Splice really helped me with that. Also, I used Youtube of course to upload the project and get it to my audience. So, yeah that’s how I integrated technologies into the project.

Oh my god, you really can do it all can’t you!

*Chuckle* I can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that I am on a Sam Price “Films Fresh Off the Press” segment!

I can’t believe I have you on here! *laugh* but it was absolutely a pleasure to have you Noura, the movie looks a-ma-zing and I am so excited to see the full thing. Thank for being with me today and answering some questions!

It was so much fun thank you so much for having me!

And that is the end of the “Films Fresh Off the Press” segment which is always one of my personal favorites. Hope to talk to you guys again next week when we discuss the upcoming Space Invaders 4 with Space Invaders Fan Club president, Margot Waterhouse. See you then, and don’t forget to watch your favorite movie today. Bye!
